This site is very much in a work in progress. We are learning and experiencing so much that is new to us. We plan to share as much as time allows, but we make no promises.

There are many shifts from first person to third person, and from past, to present, to future tenses. That's a result of the long time-span of putting this site together.

Garden/Farm

We have raised our own vegetables for many years. (Take a look at our garden in the Bay Area.) While we have never bothered with the certification process, This link to another web site opens in a new window. The privacy policies and terms of service may be different from ours. we have always gardened organically, eschewing artificial chemicals for fertilizers and pest control.

But now, with some 7,000 square feet of space in which to plant vegetables, do we have a large garden or a small farm? We're not sure!

However, we are most definitely sure that we will be raising some 90+ percent of our vegetables. No, we're not growing wheat which we'll grind for flour. We buy organic flour in 50 lb. sacks. No, we're not growing rice. We buy organic rice in 25 lb. sacks. And, no, we're not going to make our own raisins, nor grow our own almonds or ginger. There are many things that are impractical for us to grow, either because of the amount of land required, the labor involved, or the climate not being right. But we're doing the best we can...
